Rob and Margaret North bid us farewell

Over the last month the West Hereford Team has been saying a long farewell to our Team Rector, Rob North, and his wife Margaret. Rob has served our churches for 28 years and will be missed for his care and support, as well as his skills with a screwdriver!

Rob officiated for the final time in each of the Team churches throughout January, as well as at the cathedral in his role as a Prebendary. At each of the churches he was presented with a glass goblet upon which a picture of the church was engraved.

He also celebrated the social side of ministry with a lunch in Breinton Village Hall for the whole community, a Burns Night supper and Ceilidh at Holy Trinity where he danced the night away and a dinner for almost 100 people at All Saints with delicious food from the cafe.

Rob and Margaret’s final service was, of course, at St Nicholas’ where Rob began his ministry in West Hereford, and where Margaret and the 4 children worshipped. The service was attended by some 250 people and was followed by presentations of gifts for both Rob and Margaret, as well as a wonderful spread of food for lunch provided by people from the churches in the Team. An elegant and very yummy cake completed the celebrations that morning.

Finally, Rob celebrated Evensong for the last time in the evening with the faithful congregation and choir of that service. Yet more food and cake was eaten!

Rob and Margaret will be missed, but we hope they look back on their time here, and on these celebrations, with gladness in their hearts and wonderful memories of very special times and relationships. We wish them all the best in their retirement.
